The Animal Project
The red Fox is a least concerned specie. The red fox is an amazing creature as it is the most wide spreaded fox in the world. It habits most of the Northern Hemisphere thus overtaking the grey fox. The red fox is one of the most easily adaptable species in the world too; it lives in the Arctic, deserts and is also very common amongst the city. The red fox has no true habitat as seemingly it can cope anywhere?

The red fox is not red at birth, at birth it is either grey or brown but as time passes a red coat grows. The red fox lives in family groups and tends to live in dens but the red fox is known to live in other shelters. There are 45 species of red foxes spread across the entire northern hemisphere.

The dietary needs for a fox varies as they are flexible when it comes to food but the main foods they eat are rodents, rabbits, birds, fruit and vegetables, fish, frogs, worms, small mammals, rabbits, and in most cities garbage from bins. Finding prey and food is easy for a fox as they have amazing sense of vision and smell.

The average weight for a red fox is 3 to 11 kg, the average height from body to head is 46 to 86 cm and the length of the tail is 30 to 50cm. The fox is portrayed to be crafty, cunning, deceiving and untrustworthy figure but like most animals in the wild it is just continuing to live its life. The red fox may be a predator but it is also prey to many animals like the coyote, wolves and many other mammals larger than the red fox. The average life expectancy is 2 to 4 years in the wild.

The red fox continues to adapt to different habitats daily and has based its life suiting ours. You may think foxes are terrible creatures as they eat domestic pets like cats over a year 1,225 pet cats, 8 (0.7%) were killed by foxes but the main killer of cats aren't foxes the main killer is the road, cars! In a way we the humans have helped the fox as in urban areas the fox is getting food even quicker than in the wild. On the other hand before 2005 people would hunt foxes for games and for food but that is now illegal. So we have helped but also killed many red foxes our impact has changed their lives.
