The Animal Project
The Robin a beautiful miniature passerine bird is scientifically known as Erithacus rubecula and is a least concerned species. The Robin bird is indigenous to Europe and is usually around 13-14 cm in length. The European Robin species or commonly known as just the Robin are around all year round in Britain.
The Robin has an enticing orange breast both on Males as well as females a partially grey lined face, a lower brownish area and a rather grey-white stomach. The Robin is diurnal creature which means it hunts in the day and sleeps at night when other nocturnal predators will hunt.

The Robin is a rather social animal and is unafraid of humans and is well recognized by gardeners. As usual garden lovers dig up soil Robins are soon to approach as it’s an easier way to locate earth worms- an intelligent characteristic of the Robin. Robins usually hunt spiders, worms, insects, berries and fruit and can be found in British gardens throughout the UK.

Light pollution is the main factor which affects the Robin as they are Diurnal and lampposts as well as other bright lit lights can be mistaken for sunlight causing them to hunt as they do in day light becoming potential prey for other predatory birds and also confusing them changing flight patterns.
